Restricted Telegram account or banned number? Use the documented route

Start with the exact screen or error, not a generic “unban me” message. Telegram’s public help points to @SpamBot for many limits you can still use, and to the official web support form when you cannot log in.

1. Identify what is actually happening

You can still use Telegram, but your account is spam-limited

Telegram’s Spam FAQ says reported messages can be reviewed and an account can be temporarily limited. If you believe the limit is wrong, Telegram directs you to @SpamBot.

You just registered and are already limited

Telegram also says some numbers can be affected by a previous owner’s activity or by being certain virtual/VoIP numbers. The documented route is again @SpamBot. That is stronger evidence than guesses about specific carrier fraud scores or regional prefixes.

You cannot log in and see a banned-number error

Telegram’s public API documentation lists PHONE_NUMBER_BANNED as an authorization error. For users who cannot log in, Telegram’s FAQ points to its official web support form.

You requested login codes repeatedly

Telegram documents separate flood-related authorization errors such as PHONE_NUMBER_FLOOD. A temporary request limit is not automatically the same thing as a permanent ban. If Telegram is already returning a flood error, stop retrying continuously and try again later.

2. Match the problem to the documented route

Telegram notes that in-app support relies on volunteers. There is no official public promise that every case will be resolved within 24 or 48 hours.

3. What to include

• Your phone number in international format.
• The exact error message you see.
• Approximately when the issue began.
• Whether the number is new to you or may have been recycled, if relevant.
• Your device platform and Telegram client.
• A short factual explanation of why you believe the restriction is mistaken.
• A reachable email address when using the web support form.

Clear facts are useful. Do not invent reference codes, unusual wording, or extra copies of the same appeal in the hope of jumping a queue. Telegram does not document those as recovery methods.

4. Avoid making the situation worse

• Do not keep sending unsolicited messages to strangers while an account is restricted.
• Do not repeatedly request codes while Telegram is already returning flood errors.
• Do not pay third parties claiming insider access to “unban” a number.
• Never send passwords, login codes, or two-step verification codes to someone offering support.
• Do not treat a VPN, a specific mail provider, or a post on X as a documented recovery path. Use the routes Telegram publishes.

A simple appeal structure

State the exact error, your number, when it began, the client you are using, and the factual reason you think the restriction may be mistaken. Ask what information Telegram needs to review the case.
