Fix subtitle timing without uploading the file
Fix subtitle timing without uploading the file?
Shift SRT or WebVTT cues by milliseconds, or stretch two points to fix drift. The subtitle file stays in this browser, and you can convert SRT and VTT. Use it when you need to fix subtitles that start late, shift subtitles by a fixed offset, or run a subtitle sync after the picture drifts.

When to use this
Use it when you need to fix subtitles that start late, shift subtitles by a fixed offset, or run a subtitle sync after the picture drifts. An srt timing fix online, on this page, means the page is served from CreatorPrivacyKit and the cue math stays in the tab.
A frame-rate scale is the rate the file was timed at, divided by the rate it is playing at. Subtitles timed at 23.976 and played on a 25 fps speed-up use 23.976 / 25. The other direction uses 25 / 23.976. Two points do the same job when the drift is not a single known rate: the first cue time maps to the first target, the second maps to the second, and every other cue follows that line.
If the picture file is the part that is too large to send, use the Video Compressor. It shrinks the video in this browser and does not change subtitle timing.
What the timing does
The shift is added after the scale. A negative shift moves cues earlier. A cue that ends at or before 00:00:00.000 is left out. A start that lands before zero is clamped to zero, and the cue stays at least 1 millisecond long. “Start from cue” runs after that. Cue numbers start at 1. “Only cues from here” leaves earlier cues alone.
How to fix the file
- Load the cues. Choose an SRT or WebVTT file, or paste the cues and use them.
- Set the timing. Add a millisecond shift, apply a frame-rate scale, or map two cue times onto two target times.
- Preview. Check the new start and end of each cue before you save.
- Download. Save the same format, or convert between SRT and WebVTT.
Limits
- Burned-in captions are part of the picture. This tool cannot move them.
- WebVTT NOTE, STYLE, and REGION blocks are skipped and are not written back.
- Cue settings stay in a WebVTT save and are dropped in an SRT save.
- Times can be a plain millisecond count, including a leading minus, or a timestamp such as 00:01:02.500 or 1:02,400.
Questions
Does this upload my subtitle file?
No. The page loads from this site. Parsing, the shift, and the download all stay in this tab. The cue file is not sent to a server.
Can this fix burned-in captions?
No. It only changes times in an SRT or WebVTT file. Words painted into the picture stay where they are.
What does 23.976 played at 25 do?
The scale is the rate the file was timed at, divided by the rate it is playing at. 23.976 / 25 moves cues earlier. 25 / 23.976 moves them later. Two-point sync replaces that scale and the millisecond shift.
What happens to WebVTT cue settings?
Line, position, and other cue settings stay in a WebVTT download. Saving as SRT drops them, and it also drops NOTE, STYLE, and REGION blocks.
Can I convert SRT and VTT?
Yes. Download as the other format. SRT uses a comma before the milliseconds. WebVTT uses a period and keeps a cue id when one was present.
