EXIF viewer: read the metadata in a photo
EXIF viewer: read the metadata in a photo?
Drop a JPEG, PNG, or WebP and read the fields this browser parser actually finds: camera, lens, dates, software, and GPS coordinates when a GPS block is there. The photo stays in this tab. Metadata values are not sent to CreatorPrivacyKit.

Fields worth reading before you post
Camera make and model, lens, body serial when present, software, author, copyright, capture dates, and GPS latitude and longitude. PNG text chunks and WebP EXIF or XMP are listed when this parser can read them.
Why check before you trust an app
A chat app may compress a photo or it may send the file you picked. WhatsApp Help describes HD as a quality setting and a document path up to 2 GB. It does not publish a GPS rule. Read the file you are about to send, then clean it if the tags are still there.
Formats this viewer reads
| Format | What is read |
|---|---|
| JPEG | EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC |
| PNG | eXIf, tEXt, uncompressed iTXt |
| WebP | EXIF and XMP chunks |
Not opened on this page: HEIC, AVIF, TIFF.
What stays on your device
Parsing runs in the page. Choosing OpenStreetMap is a separate click that only sends the coordinates you choose to open.
Viewer, remover, and ExifStrip-style presets
This page only reads. The EXIF, GPS, and image metadata pages open the Metadata Cleaner, which rebuilds the picture at JPEG/WebP quality 0.95. That is not a GPS-only preset and not a lossless JPEG strip. ExifStrip’s own guide describes both of those options. HEIC is not opened here.
Supported JPEG, PNG, and WebP tags can be removed in the Metadata Cleaner.
Limits
- HEIC, AVIF, and TIFF are not opened here.
- Compressed PNG iTXt chunks are noted, not decoded.
- A missing GPS tag does not prove the picture has no location in the pixels.
Questions about checking a photo
How do I check EXIF and GPS without uploading?
Drop the JPEG, PNG, or WebP on this page. Parsing stays in the tab. If a GPS block is present, latitude and longitude are shown separately.
What if the GPS row is empty?
This viewer did not find a GPS tag it knows how to read. That is not proof the picture has no location, and a damaged EXIF block is not reported as empty metadata.
Can this viewer remove the tags?
No. Continue to the Metadata Cleaner, or open the EXIF remover, the GPS remover, or the image metadata remover. Those pages clean. This one reads.
Which formats are left out?
HEIC, AVIF, and TIFF are not opened. Compressed PNG iTXt is noted, not decoded.
What does an EXIF viewer show?
EXIF is the block of camera tags a photo can carry: make, model, lens, exposure, capture time, software and sometimes GPS. This page lists those fields, plus XMP and IPTC fields, for JPEG, PNG, and WebP. It reads what this parser supports, so a short list is not proof the file never had more.
Is there a page that only looks at the location?
Yes. The photo location viewer uses the same parser and puts latitude, longitude and the map link first.
