This version does not estimate generic “AI probability,” and it does not verify Grok, Gemini, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, or Flux.
FAQ
It can report whether supported OpenAI provenance signals are present, including C2PA metadata and SynthID. A not_detected result is inconclusive and does not prove the image was or was not made with ChatGPT, Codex, or the OpenAI API.
SynthID is a content-level watermark embedded in supported generated media. Unlike EXIF or C2PA, it lives in the image content itself and may survive metadata removal and some transformations.
Simple metadata stripping does not necessarily remove SynthID. C2PA and EXIF can be stripped from the file structure; SynthID may still be detectable afterward.
It means this scan did not find a supported signal. It is not proof that the image is human-made, and it is not proof that the image was not generated by OpenAI or another provider.
Local inspection runs in your browser and does not upload the file. Image URL analysis temporarily fetches the remote image through CreatorPrivacyKit's Worker so the browser can inspect it; the image is not stored. Official OpenAI verification sends the selected image to OpenAI only after you click Verify with OpenAI.
This version implements official OpenAI provenance verification only. Other providers are planned. Local metadata may still show software or creator strings when those fields exist in the file.
