GIF to Live Photo (Beta)
Can this page convert a GIF into a Live Photo?
GIF to Live Photo on this device writes an Apple pair, a Galaxy Motion Photo, or an Android Motion Photo. Encoding and the structure check are separate from Photos or Gallery import, which is Beta and not yet verified. The GIF is not posted to a conversion API.

GIF to Live Photo: drop the GIF, choose Apple or Android, then convert in this tab. Apple gets a JPEG and MOV pair. Android Motion Photo puts the MP4 in one JPEG. Encoding stays here. Photos or Gallery import is Beta and not yet verified.
This page writes files. It does not claim that every iPhone, Samsung, or Android device can import and play them.
- Encoding: when this browser supports WebCodecs H.264, conversion can write an Apple JPEG+MOV pair, a Samsung hybrid Motion Photo, or an Android Motion Photo. That is encoding success.
- Structure check: validators then inspect pairing metadata, XMP, and container layout. A pass means the file looks structurally valid — not that Photos or Gallery imported it.
- Device import: Apple Photos LIVE, Samsung Gallery, and Android / Google Photos recognition are Beta / not yet verified on a physical device.
This browser cannot convert GIFs locally. It needs WebCodecs H.264 encoding. Try a current Chrome or Edge.
On iPhone and iPad, Chrome, Edge and other browsers use the same WebKit engine as Safari, so switching browsers on this device usually won't help. This converter needs WebCodecs H.264 video encoding: update to the latest iOS or iPadOS and try again, or convert on a computer and send the files to your phone.

Live Photos work best with short motion. This GIF is longer than a typical Live Photo; the default trims toward about 3 seconds.
Large GIFs can use a lot of memory on this device.

This export contains the photo/video pair and Live Photo metadata. Import into Apple Photos has not yet been verified on a physical device. Downloading the two files separately may break the pair.
Samsung mode writes Gallery-oriented Motion Photo structure plus Android XMP. Device recognition in Samsung Gallery is not yet verified here.

FAQ
How do I convert a GIF to an iPhone Live Photo?
Choose the Apple Live Photo pair, then convert on this device. You get a still JPEG and a paired MOV with matching identifiers. That is encoding, not a verified Apple Photos import. Importing the two files together is the path Photos expects, and that path is not yet verified on a physical iPhone. Saving the two files separately often breaks the pair. The result is labeled Apple Live Photo pair (Beta).
Can I convert a GIF to an Android Motion Photo?
Yes, as a file. Android Motion Photo format 1.0 stores the video inside one JPEG. This converter writes that structure: the MP4 sits at the end of the file and the container item length matches the MP4 byte size. Samsung mode adds a Galaxy-oriented trailer on top of the Android XMP. Gallery, Google Photos, and Apple Photos recognition are not yet verified on a phone. Apple does not publish a GIF size limit for this job, and this page does not invent one.
How long is the motion, and does it include sound?
Apple's camera records about 1.5 seconds before the shutter and 1.5 seconds after it, including audio. This page does not record a camera burst. A GIF normally has no audio, so the export is silent. The default length fits the motion to about 3 seconds. You can choose about 5 seconds instead. That length is an export setting, not Apple's camera window, and it does not make Photos import verified.
Can I turn a GIF into an iPhone Live Photo?
This tool can encode a Live Photo–compatible photo and video pair with matching identifiers. That is encoding, not a verified Apple Photos import. Whether Photos keeps them as one LIVE item depends on how you import them, and that path is not yet verified on a physical device. Saving the two files separately often breaks the pair.
Does this upload my GIF?
No. Conversion runs on this device. The GIF is not posted to a conversion API.
Does GIF audio get preserved?
A GIF normally has no audio. The output is silent by default.
Does it work with Samsung Galaxy?
Samsung mode writes a Motion Photo file with Android XMP and a Samsung SEF trailer. That is the public Gallery-oriented structure. Recognition inside Samsung Gallery is only claimed for models that have actually been tested — none are listed as verified yet.
What's the difference between Live Photo and Motion Photo?
Apple Live Photo is a paired still and a short video. Samsung and Android Motion Photos are usually a single image file with the motion video stored inside it.
Can I use it for an iPhone Lock Screen wallpaper?
Apple may apply additional eligibility rules, so a generated Live Photo is not guaranteed to be accepted as an animated Lock Screen wallpaper.
