Why does a browser fingerprint stay after an IP change?

People change IP with a VPN, a phone hotspot, or a new cafe network and expect the browser to look new. The script is still measuring the same device. Screen size, pixel ratio, languages, time zone, CPU threads, and a stable canvas do not depend on the public address.

Which signals ignore the route

Screen size, pixel ratio, languages, time zone, CPU threads, and a stable canvas do not depend on the public address.

Run it on the fingerprint test. The digest excludes IP on purpose so you can see the device side alone.

Which signals might move

The address this website sees should move. WebRTC’s server-reflexive address moves only if that path is covered.

A private host address can still appear if the browser offers it. That is a separate check.

How to compare honestly

Scan, change the network, scan again, and keep both results in the tab. Refreshing clears them.

If only the address row moved, the fingerprint did not.

Common questions

Does a new IP reset cookies?
No. Cookies follow the browser profile, not the route.
Is a stable fingerprint proof I am unique?
No. It means those signals did not change between the two scans.
