Does Instagram remove EXIF metadata from images?
Short answer
No dated CreatorPrivacyKit upload test is published yet. EXIF on a downloaded copy is also not the same problem as an AI Info label, which Meta has described in terms of provenance signals such as C2PA — among other possible inputs.

- Post to a throwaway account if needed.
- Retrieve the delivered image.
- Compare EXIF and any C2PA independently from on-platform labels.
Methodology
Every published result has to follow the same protocol: a known source file, a recorded hash, a specific upload path, and a downloaded copy. Folklore does not count.
Privacy implications
Clean GPS before posting if the photo could place a home or workplace. Do not treat metadata cleanup as a guaranteed way to avoid an AI label.
