Platform metadata

Discord, Telegram, LINE, WhatsApp, Instagram, X and related upload paths. Each page is a test slot, not a rumor roundup.

Image formats

Container rules first. A JPEG APP1 block is not the same thing as a PNG eXIf chunk or a HEIC item property.

AI provenance

A missing Content Credential is not proof the picture is a camera original. These pages record file-level signals only.

Does Discord remove EXIF metadata from images?

CreatorPrivacyKit has not published a dated test of this Discord upload path yet. A downloaded attachment can tell you what that copy contains. It cannot prove what Discord stored internally, and forum claims are not a substitute for a hash-checked run.

Does Telegram remove EXIF metadata from images?

We have not published a dated test of Telegram photo versus file delivery yet. Those two buttons are different paths. Treat them as separate experiments, not as one platform-wide rule.

Does LINE remove EXIF metadata from images?

CreatorPrivacyKit has not published a dated LINE photo test yet. Album, chat, Keep, and file-style sends can differ. We will not fill this page with a guessed “LINE strips GPS” sentence.

Does WhatsApp remove EXIF metadata from images?

No dated CreatorPrivacyKit test is published yet. WhatsApp documents Standard and HD quality as product choices; quality, compression, and metadata are not the same question. Document send is a third path.

Does Instagram remove EXIF metadata from images?

No dated CreatorPrivacyKit upload test is published yet. EXIF on a downloaded copy is also not the same problem as an AI Info label, which Meta has described in terms of provenance signals such as C2PA — among other possible inputs.

Does X (Twitter) remove EXIF metadata from images?

No dated CreatorPrivacyKit test of an X upload path is published yet. A public derivative can show what the delivered copy contains. It cannot show ranking rules or internal storage.

Does Facebook remove EXIF metadata from images?

This test slot is reserved. We have not published a dated Facebook upload measurement. AI-label policy is a separate question from EXIF on a downloaded copy.

Does TikTok remove EXIF metadata from images?

No dated CreatorPrivacyKit test is published. Photo posts, story-style surfaces, and video stills are different objects and should not be collapsed into one claim.

Does Reddit remove EXIF metadata from images?

Pending. Old Reddit, new Reddit, and app uploads can differ. We will not copy a decade-old forum answer into this slot.

Does Slack remove EXIF metadata from images?

Pending. Slack image previews and file attachments are different delivery paths. A workplace screenshot can still carry GPS if it started as a camera original.

What metadata does a ChatGPT-generated image contain?

We have not published a dated dump of a ChatGPT-downloaded image yet. Possible file-level signals include ordinary metadata and, when present, C2PA / Content Credentials. A missing signal is inconclusive — not proof the picture is human-made. Screenshots throw away container metadata.

What metadata does a Gemini-generated image contain?

Pending. We will record whatever is actually in a downloaded Gemini image: ordinary metadata, C2PA if present, or nothing readable. We will not sketch an unofficial watermark map to fill this page.

What metadata does a Grok-generated image contain?

Pending. A Grok download may carry ordinary metadata, generator tags, or C2PA — or none of those. Until we publish a dated file, treat every specific field list as unverified.

What metadata does a JPEG file contain?

A JPEG can hold EXIF (including GPS), XMP, ICC, and in some files C2PA in APP11/JUMBF. This page does not yet publish a dated sample dump; it exists so the format facts stay separate from platform folklore.

What metadata does a PNG file contain?

PNG is not “metadata-free by default.” It can carry eXIf, textual chunks (sometimes prompts), pHYs, and in some files a C2PA `caBX` chunk. No dated sample dump is attached yet.

What metadata does a HEIC file contain?

iPhone stills are often HEIC. The container can hold EXIF-equivalent item properties, including location, independently of a JPEG sitting next to it. No dated CPK dump is attached yet.

What metadata does a WebP file contain?

WebP can carry EXIF, XMP and ICC chunks. A conversion to WebP is not automatically a metadata strip. No dated sample dump is attached yet.
